Ahmed Alsoudani was born in 1975 in Bagdad, Iraq. Alsoudani attended the Maine College of Art graduating in 2005, he then attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, Maine, and received his M.F.A. from the Yale University School of art in 2008. The artist spent a brief period in Berlin before returning to New York City.

Alsoudani beautifully depicts themes of war, contemporary global conflict, and human suffering. His figures move across the canvas with a sense of urgency that is unique to the artist’s personal perspective. Inspired by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Max Beckmann, Otto Dix and Goya, Alsoudani’s work explores the aftermath of violence. His imagery resonates with the humanity within us.

Ahmed Alsoudani currently lives and works in New York City.
